It is not that we seize them, but that they seize us."

"The perfect shoes can change your life."
- Cinderella
- I wouldn't say this pair of shoes changed mine but it did start a very exciting night when the left heel broke just before the Easter kids' concert I was conducting was about to start. It didn't ruin the night, though. I had a blast and the concert was a success. Praise God!

Your love is better than ice cream.
Better than anything else that I've tried...
Your love is better than chocolate,
better than anything else that I've tried.

I have always been certain things are not always what they seem
Though the heavens stop turning I'll be holding on to our dream
We can fly away, fly away. No more doubt, we'll have nothing left to say
We can fly away, fly away from the darkness to the sun...
(from the song Fly Away by Emma Townshend)
I'm not satisfied with this shot but happy that I caught this plane which flew over our house one morning... not that it's difficult to catch one as literally 'all' public aircrafts coming in and outside of our city fly over our house. Yes, I'm so used to the noise that I no longer hear it sometimes :)

Toast to 2012! Happy new year, everyone!
Thanks to God for my Redeemer,
Thanks for all Thou dost provide!
Thanks for times now but a memory,
Thanks for Jesus by my side!
Thanks for pleasant, balmy springtime,
Thanks for dark and stormy fall!
Thanks for tears by now forgotten,
Thanks for peace within my soul!
Thanks for prayers that Thou hast answered,
Thanks for what Thou dost deny!
Thanks for storms that I have weathered,
Thanks for all Thou dost supply!
Thanks for pain, and thanks for pleasure,
Thanks for comfort in despair!
Thanks for grace that none can measure,
Thanks for love beyond compare!
Thanks for roses by the wayside,
Thanks for thorns their stems contain!
Thanks for home and thanks for fireside,
Thanks for hope, that sweet refrain!
Thanks for joy and thanks for sorrow,
Thanks for heav’nly peace with Thee!
Thanks for hope in the tomorrow,
Thanks through all eternity!

The meaninglessness of every human endeavor without God at the center of one's life is the main theme of the book of Ecclesiastes. Neither time period nor writer's name is mentioned in the book but several passages suggest that King Solomon may be the author.
Photo is my new Bible, a Zondervan NIV Sutdy Bible - a treasure I've always wanted for so long and was given me for my 35th birthday. I'm currently re-studying the book of Ecclesiastes and what loads of wisdom this book always unfolds!

Each of us has a note to play in God's orchestra. There will be no symphony unless you know your role and are playing it. A certain gift is given you which requires constant and diligent practice. Only by rehearsing your part can you contribute to the divine symphony orchestrated by God himself.
Are you performing your part?
"Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father." -Colossians 3:16-17 (NASB)

They are not long, the days of wine and roses:
Out of a misty dream our path emerges for a while,
then closes within a dream.
then closes within a dream.

So excited when this new country-kitchen inspired pizza, pasta, and chicken restaurant opened today in Davao City. My excitement wan't because it's serving my favorite dishes, though. It's because this new dining place is a fruit of my friend's prayers and labor who deserves this great blessing. Congratulations 'te Pi!
Maria Pia's Kitchen is now open to serve Davaoenos a variety of pizzas, pastas, and rice meals including Korean beef stew, Korean barbecue, and chicken teriyaki among others. It's located along C. M. Recto Street across old Odeon cinema, just before reaching RCBC Palma Gil.

Nothing beats the Bible but these couple of devotional books are also where I get my daily dose of encouragement, inspiration, and strength.

The women's ministry in my local church is saving money with this small penny bank to purchase a new vehicle. So appropriate, don't you think?
