White Sands of Malapascua and Kalanggaman

June 28, 2017

Located off the north tip of Cebu, Malapascua is a famed island among scuba divers. If you fancy an encounter with thresher sharks which are present all year-round, it's the perfect destination for you.

But of course it's also great for those who only want to relax, enjoy the pristine shores, engage with the locals, or photograph graceful sunsets.

How to go to Malapascua
If you're not from Cebu then you'll need to fly to Mactan international airport. From there you can either hire a private car or take a bus to Maya port.

If you go by a private car, the trip would take about three hours. If you go by bus, about four to five hours.

Private car or taxi would cost you around P3,000 to P5,000 while the bus fare is only around P150 to P200.

From Maya port, you'll need to cross to Malapascua Island through a 30-mintue boat ride. The fare should only cost P80.

Cross to Kalanggaman Island
While in Malapascua, you can take advantage of the opportunity to grace another beautiful island, Kalanggaman - famous for its crystal clear waters and beautiful sandbars. This island is no longer part of Cebu but of Leyte.

Standard rate inclusive of boat ride and lunch is P800. Entrance fee is P150 for Filipinos and P500 for foreigners.
